Labor Rights of Tannery Workers in Bangladesh: An Overview

Tannery in Bangladesh has a long history as profitable business though it both environmental and health hazards. The labour rights of tannery workers are disrupted their standard living is miserable. Nevertheless, the job tedious. aim this paper to explore current status basic maintained tanneries based Dhaka Narayanganj districts Bangladesh. This study qualitative nature. Primary data have been collected from through four Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) five observations different factory visits 2021. findings reveal that exploited by insufficient employment benefits lack welfare facilities stated BLA-2006. They also suffer occupational health, hygiene safety crises. Long working hours pay below minimum wage common sector. In addition, serious observation on pay, leave, security, maternity benefit, etc. concludes with at not protected, which generates grievances. recommends practicing BLA-2006 sector order avoid further legal obligations possible unrest.
